Award Me Only What Life Has For Me

I do not need a Nobel or Pulitzer Prize for poetry if it’s not for me. 

I’ll accept it if awarded. I do not want a Grammy for any of the 

recorded spoken words to music of mine. Of course, I will take one 

or more if awarded. I'm not so vain as to covet any of them. 

However, I am the recipient of the 2024 Oregon Poetry Association 

Patricia Ruth Banta Award. It means more to me than being named 

an Oregon Poet Laureate. It’s an award life has for me. If no other is 

awarded, I resolve to stay humble and undefiled.
