Not In Unknown Tongues

All of you of faith offer open prayers on our last day. Do not do so in confessionals, hunkering down in prayer closets, and in solemn silence. Not in unknown tongues you Charismatics and Pentecostals. Catholics, set down your prayer beads and tuck away prayer cloths. Everyone else, clasp interlocking fingers in earnest reverence. Pray in the language of your ears, and in that of the hearer all you Protestants. And oh, you Evangelicals, repent for the metaphysical Kingdom of Heaven is near. Listen for your neighbors' prayers. It will be a kaleidoscope of all that is humane. None will be from the cup of our inhumanity. What’s spoken will be the most humane expressions in the miraculous history of human existence.
