I'm grateful for your dad (and all others) who sacrificed so much for our freedoms. War is more horrific than can ever be imagined by those who have never served, so those sacrifices made should never be taken lightly, nor glossed-over, regardless of how one regards war itself. Nice piece, emmett.

"I'm glad", those are the words every parent wants to hear. There is hardly any reason to survive or fight a war unless there is someone at home that will be glad to still have you in their life. Your poem touched me.
