An American Abstract

Spring is about quiet and reawakening.

Segregated fields of mustard colored poppies bow
and bow. Most—blurred images.

Pretty pink each stem. Tall and short.

A cream color sky holds hostage the day. No clouds

Anchoring the backdrop are jagged edged mountains.
Jim Crow laws will never rue the day.

Brisk winds the injustice. Inferior border a pale white,
securing its place in the foreground.

If only this abstract could speak.

  1. Colorful imagery, emmett, though there's a darkness behind it.

I cannot speak for my poetry, it must speak for itself.
